Resistance exercise reduces symptoms of chronic Lyme Disease.

Cases of Lyme Disease are growing at an alarming rate both in the US and the UK. This has been blamed on a warming planet, among other things, which allows the ticks that carry the disease to thrive.

Perhaps most worrying however, is the 40% of people who contract the disease that are left with persistent symptoms such as debilitating musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and poor health as a result. This has been termed chronic Lyme Disease.

Resistance training and chronic Lyme Disease

A recent study by a colleague in the US has found that low intensity resistance exercise has a positive effect on those symptoms, with subjects showing improvements in exercise performance and generally feeling healthier.
