Ed is an endurance athlete who came to see me in the summer with bilateral Achilles tendon pain. He recently stepped out of bed without pain for the first time in 10 years. Below is his Achilles tendon rehab testimonial.
“After 10 years of Achilles tendon pain I was fed up. Although I had completed multiple triathlons, including the Norseman, marathons, cross-country races and various other challenges, I’d only ever managed my Achilles issues at best.
More recently things had got worse. My inability to run two days in a row, the pain each and every single morning and the discomfort that would strike at any point during the day was driving me to distraction. I also had serious concerns that the pain would never leave me and I’d be hobbling around well before my time.
Over the years I’d visited countless physios and specialists who all treated the symptoms. On occasion the pain would lessen but never disappear and I was reluctant to test out yet another physio. A friend had mentioned Muscle Activation Techniques but the expense had put me off and I’d resigned myself to pain management and hoped to someday chance upon a magic cure. However, finally I relented and started visiting Paul this Summer.
Initial progress was slow, Paul was learning about my body and discovering where my many and varied weaknesses lay. After three or four sessions I was questioning the treatment but stuck the course. As we moved to specific, gym-based exercises and my strength rapidly improved in my weaker areas, I noticed improvements. Each morning I was springing out of bed, a day walking around town no longer caused me issues, I was pain free after a round of golf.
The transformation has been remarkable and I’m now fully committed to Paul’s approach. The next step is to get back to running, hopefully pain free. I’ll update you then.”
