Stress, injury and overuse can cause muscles to become inhibited and therefore weak. These areas of muscle weakness are the reason why you haven’t made a satisfactory recovery from injury and why you suffer from muscle tightness and instability around certain joints.

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a biomechanically based, neuromuscular assessment and treatment process that identifies and resolves muscle inhibition. It’s a revolutionary approach to treating the muscular system and is successful in restoring motion and control around joints. MAT addresses dysfunction at its source, reducing compensations and significantly improving strength.


Here’s how it works.

We assess your body for major movement restrictions by comparing motion on one side to the other. As muscle tightness is secondary to muscle weakness, we know that where we see restrictions, we are likely to find muscles that aren’t able to contract appropriately.

We make a list of all the asymmetries we find and triage them according to your history, present symptoms and a deep understanding of human movement.

Session by session, joint by joint we move through your body unlocking motion at these restricted segments as we improve the function of the muscles that act upon them.
